New age discrimination?

I feel like writing a new column because of a lot of shit I’ve been seeing lately on the internet but also in real life. In the old days discrimination was not only OK, it was a common everyday thing. There were no laws that prohibited people from discriminating anything. Then we grew up and normal things like race and religion were no longer allowed to be publicly discriminated. But what about the smaller things like body modification and homosexuality? Sure homosexuality is no longer illegal which it used to be, and stuff like tattoos and piercings are becoming more acceptable as the days pass. So why this post?

Let me begin from the beginning. This post could easily offend a lot of people so read at your own will! Now with that disclaimer out of the way I can say what I want to say. Where does all modern day discrimination find its origin? Christianity. Yes I am talking about the west, not Asia or Africa. How dare I say such a horrible thing? Look at the facts and start thinking outside of the box for a moment. Before Christianity became a widespread religion people were doing all sorts of fucked up stuff that is considered disgusting by today’s standards. Hell, if you go back a few thousand years you’ll find some weird shit in Greek history such as public pedophilia and homosexuality that wasn’t only part of their culture but was also embedded into many rituals and customs. There was even an entire army in which only homosexual men were allowed! Why? Could you imagine what a morale boost it gives to be fighting along side of the man you love? All of Greece was impressed by it, except for the Spartans as they didn’t like homosexuals too much.

Pedophiles are a different subject all together and all I want to say about that is that I don’t entirely agree with it. But there is a difference between a culture in which every boy knows that one day he’s going to get a 30 year old man for a partner, and some sick fuck that goes around molesting and raping little children. But enough about that. What else did people do back then? Body modifications like tattoos and piercings were very common back then and so was shit like bestiality or zoophilia. Would I ever want to fuck an animal? No. But do I give a shit about what other people want to do? No. When it comes to sex related crimes I think we should scrap all of them except for the stuff that nobody wants, such as rape and molestation. Everything else are just left-overs of the Christian way of life that we’re all dismissing at an incredible rate per decade. Did you know that there are sex positions that are illegal in some states of America? Did you know stuff like SM was illegal as well? Why? I’m not into that stuff but what gives you the fucking right to say that nobody else can do it either?

With Christianity we dug a hole that we are no desperately trying to get out of, but it’s hard on some people. And I can imagine that it is. Which brings me to the point of this post. Discrimination nowadays is hidden, or covered up. People go around saying shit like “Homosexuals make me sick… But I don’t hate them!”. What the fuck is that? Which one is it? Obviously the last addition is merey there because modern society looks down on people that discriminate things that are already widely accepted. Allow me to grab a post from the IMDB board for Kinsey, a movie about Alfred Kinsey who was the first man to actually study human sexuality back in the 1940’s. Bare with me… The topic’s title is Gaymovie!! Straight people has been warned!.

“Ok. I bought the dvd and started looking at it with my girlfriend. Then came the scene in the bedroom with Kinsey and his male student startet kissing.

Pressed stop and eject, the throwed the dvd away. Why?

-I’am a heterosexual male. I get sick of this kind, like i get sick of animalsex and other kinds.

Am i wrong? Are gay people wrong? Are “animalsex” people wrong? -I DONT CARE what is right or wrong! I just HATE watching gay sexscenes!

All films sould told of gay behavior on the cover, so people like me didnt have to get sick watching it.

I’m sure many of you who read this is gaypeople, and dont understand me beeing sick of ur kind, so dont bother getting pissed.

Animalsex is leagal in Norway, but i have never seen a film including it. And i’m sure many would get sick watching a film of human/animal having sex. I’m also sure if its gonna be normal i films, bought straight and gaypeople would prefeer having the cover telling it.

Got the point”

He then goes on with:

Let me answer ur question in this way:

1. If a man like to see 2 girls kissing, does he natrually like to see 2 guys kiss?

2. The world remember Madonna and Britney from VMA 2003, But what would had happen if it was Mike Tyson and Will Smith?

3. Is it safe to say that girls is “closer” in naturall than guys?

4. Is it safe to say that most of us dont belive that Britney and Madonna had sex before/after?

5. Is it belivable that less of girls kissing, has sex with one another?

6. Is it belivable that moore of guys kissing does have sex with one another?

7. Is it safe to say that most hetory guys LOVE and gets really turned on of seeing 2 girls kissing?

8. Is it safe to say that most hetero girls dont get turned on of seeing 2 guys kissing?

This, if ur intelligent, this basically is the same question as: why is a girl that is *beep* all around called a wh*re, and boys are called men.

But if ur dumb, u think that all men that love to see two girls kiss, do love to se 2 guys do the same thing.

If this dosn’t answer ur question, this will:

I LOVE TO SEE GIRLS KISS, BUT HATE TO SEE MEN KISSING

Can u accept and understand it?

First of all, I hope this dude gets raped by a gang of skinheads with HIV, second; here’s my question: Why the fuck would you post an entire thread dedicated to your hatred towards homosexual men in the first place when you know that everybody else will disagree with you? I wasn’t very comfortable during that weird scene where those two actors kissed, but was I so repulsed by it that I freaked out and threw away the DVD like it was created in the darkest and deepest depths of hell? Nope. It was this among many other similar things that made me realize that even though everybody says that they don’t have any prejudices whatsoever, everybody is still thinking like people did 100 years ago!

Pretty soon I’ll get a Kanji character tattooed on my neck/throat region (along with the rest of my body throughout the following years) and it’s pretty big and obvious. I did that on purpose. Why? So that I can filter out the fake people from my own people. I also know that I’ll be discriminated for the rest of my life. Like whenever a cop pulls me over because I was speeding, the process will now take longer since he’ll most likely want to run a check on me to see if I’m not an escaped convict. I’ll also have to accept the fact that I’ll never get a job with a decent salary, not that I was planning on getting one anyway but I’m just saying. So why do this to myself? Because next time when I meet someone and he or she doesn’t look at me like I’m some scumbag ex-convict, I’ll know that I’m looking at a person who doesn’t discriminate people based on their appearance. I would hate to get to know someone and one day find out he or she is some narrow minded fuck who I don’t want to be associated with.

So here we are, at the end of my column. All I want to say to you is the following: Unlearn, think for yourself, forget about everything you thought was right or wrong and reconsider it.

I know I kinda slipped off-topic here and there but this was quite an impulsive post which I just wrote up as I went with it.

Multiple Cores, why?

Why aren’t we still using Pentium 4’s with higher clockspeeds? Why are we instead going for multiple cores? Doesn’t a dual core with 2,4 Ghz for both cores just run games slower than a single core Pentium 4 3,6 Ghz? The answers are right here. I decided to write this columns because I found a huge wave of ignorance that swept the average computer users. They all believe that multi core is a step backwards and that instead, we should concentrate on higher clockspeeds. Well, I have one thing to say to you: You are fucking idiots.

First things first, the reason why we can’t get up to 100 Ghz and more is simple. This world and everything in existence has to obey natural laws. I dropped science class so I couldn’t tell you how much the exact maximum amount of Ghz is, but there is nevertheless a limit. What these Hz produce in terms of computing is heat. The more Ghz, the more heat. The higher we crank up the clockspeeds the more heat sinks and fans we have to cram into our PC’s not to mention on the CPU itself. The fans create noise, and the bigger and more powerful the fans get; the more noise they produce. So raising clockspeeds only has a whole lot of contras attached to it. This is why we are moving up to multi-core CPU’s. Multi-Core CPU’s will no doubt need a lot of cooling too, but this is acceptable for the performance you gain from using multiple cores. While multi-core CPU’s will also get higher clockspeeds, there is a difference in heat production. While two times 2,4 Ghz will produce more heat than a single core 2,4 Ghz CPU, they will produce way less heat than a single core 4 Ghz whilst still beating it performance-wise.

The only downside for multi-core CPU’s right now is that older applications and games do not make use of multiple cores. So in that case a single core 3 Ghz would completely destroy a dual core 1,8 Ghz in a benchmark since the application only uses one of the available cores in the dual core CPU and thus making it as good as a 1,8 Ghz single core CPU. Keep in mind though that the Core 2 Duo architecture is completely different from the Pentium’s architecture. So a single Core 2 Duo core running on 2,4 Ghz would still be better than a single core 3 Ghz from the Pentium 4 product line in terms of processing power. Another pro for multi-core CPU’s is the ability to move up to 64-bit processing. Right now though, it’s pretty useless. Not only do you need at least 4 GB of (fast) memory but most games and applications aren’t supporting it nor do the software companies responsible for those products plan to support it any time soon simply because there are way too few people running an actual 64-bit compatible OS. While multi-core CPU’s are already being sold in pre-built computers, 64-bit OS’s are nowhere near being sold in mainstream hardware shops. It is, however, a very cool technology for the future which will give games and other heavy CPU dependent applications an incredible boost in performance once it becomes mainstream. For now though, stick to 32-bits.

Right now multi-core CPU’s aren’t exactly required for gamers, but that is sure to change very very soon with games like UTIII and Crysis coming up. For people that are into professional tools like Photoshop and 3Ds Max multi-core CPU’s are already very interesting since these applications already take full advantage of them and can increase rendering times by at least 200% depending on how many cores you’re using. But even for amateur game modders it’s interesting because the upcoming Unreal Ed 3 (for Unreal Engine 3) will already be using quad-core CPU’s to their fullest and I’m 100% sure that Crytek’s Sandbox Editor 2 (for Crysis) will do the same. Scalability is another very interesting thing developers are working on right now. Basically this means that a game or an application is able to use a very wide (and maybe unlimited) range of cores, which will prove very useful in the next 10 years when everyone is playing games that were originally meant to be played on dual cores, with octa-cores (8 cores) or more. I hope I have convinced you now!
